Kebanyakan gula putih di Malaysia dihasilkan dari tebu. Di Eropah, ia juga fihasilkan dari ubi beet.<\/p>\n<p>Semasa proses terakhir penghasilan gula, molasses dihadilkan. Oleh itu ia juga dikenali sebagai kerak gula.<\/p>\n<p><em>Molasses<\/em> berwarna hitam, nama lainnya adalah gula hitam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Perbezaan di antara <em>molasses<\/em> dan gula putih<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Satu sudu teh (sudu besar) gula putih 20g mengandungi 80 kalori. Sementara satu sudu teh <em>molasses<\/em> mengandungi 60 kalori. Ini bermakna <em>molasses<\/em> mengandungi nilai kalori yang lebih rendah dari gula putih.<\/p>\n<p>2. Tidak seperti gula putih, <em>molasses<\/em> kaya dengan vitamin B dan mineral terutama potassium, kalsium, zat besi, dan magnesium.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Molasses lebih baik dari gula putih<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Penggunaan <em>molasses<\/em> menggantikan gula putih sebagai gula tambahan harus dilakukan secara bersederhana.<\/p>\n<p>Namun mollases lebih bermanfaat dari gula putih kerana mengandungi mikronutrien. Sementara gula putih pula tiada mikronutrien.<\/p>\n<p>1. <em>Molasses<\/em> mengandungi mineral potassium. Potassium adalah mineral yang dapat <strong>merendahkan tekanan darah<\/strong> dan <em>molasses<\/em> adalah sumber terbaik untuk mendapatkan potassium.<\/p>\n<p>Satu sudu besar <em>molasses<\/em> mengandungi 295 mg, dan kita memerlukan 3500-4700 mg potassium setiap hari.<\/p>\n<p>2. <em>Molasses<\/em> dari ubi beet mengandungi antioksida yg bertindak menghalang pertumbuhan kanser. <strong><em>Sebatian cyanidin-3-O-glucoside<\/em> chloride<\/strong> dapat melindungi dari kanser payudara, kanser hati dan kanser kolon. Namun begitu ia masih di peringkat kajian awal di makmal.<\/p>\n<p>3. <em>Molasses<\/em> mengandungi mineral seperti zink, yang sangat penting merangsang aktiviti<em> <strong>natural killer cell<\/strong><\/em> dan <em><strong>T-lymphocyte<\/strong><\/em>. Kedua-dua sel ini penting dalam sistem pertahanan tubuh melawan bakteria dan virus.<\/p>\n<p>4. Ia juga kaya dengan <strong>mineral kalsium<\/strong> yang dapat membantu mengurangkan masalah kerapuhan tulang (<em><strong>osteophorosis<\/strong><\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>5. Nilai GI <em>molasses<\/em> lebih rendah (55) berbanding dengan gula putih (65).<\/p>\n<p>Kesimpulannya <em>molasses<\/em> adalah pemanis yang lebih baik dari gula putih.
